Going to the zoo confirmed one thing for me. I hate our stroller. Ok, hate is a really strong word. It's great when I want to leave them in their baby carrier/carseats that easily attach right into the stroller, and it will still be good when I'm going somewhere where I need to fit in more narrow spaces, like doorways...but for things like walks in the neighborhood and trips to the zoo- it's just not great. When I took Ryleigh and Reagan to the zoo, it was actually the first time I used as a regular stroller, without the baby carriers. I wanted them to be able to see everything going on around them. And the problem is- the one sitting in the back seat can't see anything but the seat in front of them. Also, the back seat is the only one that reclines, so when my poor Reagan got sleepy at the zoo, she was having a hard time napping in the stroller because her seat would only sit straight up. Too bad I didn't have experience being a mom of twins before I picked out our stroller! ha.
I came home from the zoo and immediately started researching side-by-side double strollers, and within a week and a half of going to the zoo- I have my new side-by-side stroller! It's uh-mazing!! It's all terrain, so I can pretty much take it anywhere, and although it's big and heavy, it is SO easy and smooth to push. The only thing I've found that I don't really like is that the babies can't really see each other in the stroller, because the seats are a little deep. That does mean there is plenty of room for them to grow though!

Our eventful weekend
Since the babies were born (almost 8 months now!), Matt and I have had basically no life outside of our home. Matt goes to work a few days a week, but we hardly ever go out together. Either he goes or I go...and the other takes care of the babies. This has been fine for me, as I'm kind of a home body anyway. I have felt myself getting a little stir crazy though lately, especially after the babies go to bed for the night, because they are usually asleep by around 8:30 pm.
This weekend we decided we've had enough of all that, so on Friday afternoon, we took the babies to a restaurant for the first time. We went to one of my favorites, Uncle Julios. It was sooo yum, and the babies were fantastic! Actually, Ryleigh almost slept through the entire experience. Reagan was awake the whole time though. They probably would have been fine going to a restaurant earlier, but now we know they can handle it, and so can Matt and I. Yay babies.
Also, on Saturday night, our friend Scott came over and babysat for us, so Matt and I could go out. Babysitting is quite easy these days, because Matt and I didn't leave the house until after we fed and put the babies to bed. So Scott got to take the monitor upstairs and watch a movie. None-the-less, we were very thankful! We went to Chuy's (I love me some mexican food!)...and I had 2 margaritas and got a little tipsy, so after we ate, I just wanted to come home and go to bed. I felt old, but it was fun to get out. That's only the 2nd time in 8 months that we have went out together without the babies!

First trip to the zoo!
On Tuesday, I took Ryleigh and Reagan to the zoo for the first time. We went to the Dallas zoo with my Friend Kristi, her son Aedan, and her friend Sarah and her son Brayden. We had a lot of fun. The babies did great. I was super paranoid mom though, because I was so scared they were going to get sunburned. I adjusted their sun visors on the stroller like 100 times and kept applying sunscreen. The sunscreen made the babies look all greasy, especially Ryleigh's hair-so she looked funny. I think they had a good time...definitely something new! My favorite was the giraffes. I liked how they could come right up to you. One let me pet it. The babies weren't so much into the animals yet, but they did seem to like the penguins....probably more the tank of water than anything. They also seemed to really enjoy being around the other kiddos. The babies were sooo tired by the end of the day. They went to bed so easily, and they didn't want to get up in the morning! :) Mommy was tired too! I was especially feeling it the next day after pushing that double stroller around all day!

Pictures
Matt noticed when Ryleigh and Reagan were born that I had interest in taking lots of pictures of them. Duh! :) So what did my wonderful husband do? He bought me an amazing camera for Christmas. So now, I take even more pictures. I take pictures every single day. I have thousands. One of my favorite things to do now is set up little photo shoots and take pictures of the babies in some of their cutest outfits. Every time I do this, I gain a little more respect for photographers, especially those who specialize in children. It's not easy!! The shoots usually end pretty quickly with one of both of them screaming, falling over on each other, fighting, etc. It's usually all worth it in the end though, because I end up with at least 1 good shot.
Monday, I took some pictures of them in the overalls that my Dad and Tammy got the girls for Christmas. I wouldn't necessarily consider it a failed shoot. I didn't really get that one good shot though...but I did get several funny ones. Reagan fell over, then Ryleigh fell on top of her...and all hell broke loose. Mommy just kept taking pictures... :) Here's how it went down:
